You will find Slussen (the sloice) on the island Orust situated beautifully down by the shoreline with a stunning view overlooking the bay. There is no sluice at Orus, the village got its name from the fjord that separates the island from the mainland, Slussekilen. Slussen is mostly known for its legendary seaside hotel. It was built in 1926 to be used as a cannery factory. The factory went bankrupt in the early 30s and was then rebuilt in to the seaside hotel that it is today. During the 30s – and 40s the guesthouse was used by wealthy tourists, artists and poetry writers. Since the 90s the hotel has become a significant music venue during the summer. So come and enjoy a delicious meal in the restaurant whilst listening to the braking waves and sweet music.
